Most entry-level oilfield jobs require: A high school diploma or GED,valid Class 1 or 3 driver's license, safety certifications: H₂S Alive, First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, CSTS, physical fitness and the ability to work long hours in remote locations and some specialized roles may also require BOP training or coil tubing-specific certificates.
Oilfield salaries vary by role and experience. Entry-level positions may start at CAD $60,000–$80,000/year. Skilled operators, such as coil tubing or nitrogen pump operators, can earn CAD $120,000–$200,000 annually, especially with overtime and field bonuses.
Mandatory safety training includes: H₂S Alive (Hydrogen Sulfide Awareness), first Aid/CPR, WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials), TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) and CSTS (Construction Safety Training System) Additional training like fall protection or confined space entry may be required based on the role.
